We believe an education rich in the arts, humanities, and sciences is essential for all students. These disciplines foster deeper understanding of the human experience, creativity, imagination, and empathy. Through grants, research, and advocacy, we work with schools and community organizations to expand access to arts education and creative learning through the humanities and sciences.

STARS Residencies

Grants to schools for residencies of 3 days or more with teaching artists, scientists, scholars, or cultural organizations

Big Yellow School Bus

Grants to help K-12 schools meet the costs of providing educational field trips to Massachusetts cultural institutions and events

Local Cultural Council Program

Project grants to individuals and organizations for the benefit of local communities

Poetry Out Loud

A national recitation contest for high school students celebrating the spoken word and mastery of public speaking skills. Presented by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, in partnership with Mass Cultural Council and Huntington Theatre Company.

An arts-based training, coaching, and professional development program through which participants learn to use the Creative Minds Out of School curriculum delivered. A partnership with the Innovation Learning Center and Davis Publications.

Mass History Day

A competition for middle and high school students. Participants choose an historical topic related to the annual theme, conduct research, and may present their work at school, local, state, and national levels.
